Dell PowerEdge 16G Arrives at the ATC
WWT's Advanced Technology Center (ATC) now offers the opportunity for customers to reserve the new Dell PowerEdge 16G server line for evaluation and integration testing.
Dell's PowerEdge 16G server portfolio has been designed to support today's latest technology solutions from partners such as Intel, AMD and NVIDIA along with supporting key data center-focused solutions within the AI, Security and Sustainability areas.
Dell PowerEdge 16G solutions showcase the latest processors from Intel and AMD with the Intel 4th Gen Xeon Scalable Processor (Sapphire Rapids) and the AMD 4th Gen EPYC Processor (Genoa). These processors are architected to achieve maximum performance while balancing energy usage, enabling customers to consolidate workloads and more efficiently support their enterprise workflows regardless if they are deployed with an enterprise data center, at the edge or in a public cloud location.
In addition to the next-generation processor enablement, this generation of Dell PowerEdge Servers brings DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 technology to the industry while also allowing for backward compatibility for Gen4 if needed. The PCIe Gen5 bus doubles the throughput of its predecessor, bringing benefits to NVMe Drives, GPUs, NICs and technology like Composable Disaggregated Infrastructure solutions. Another benefit of the new PCIe Gen 5 technology is the introduction of CXL 1.1 technology (Compute Express Link). The DDR5 memory technology brings increased performance, lower voltage requirements and significantly larger capacities per RDIMM compared to previous versions.
The Dell PowerEdge 16G line of servers will also enable larger local storage capacity by incorporating the EDSFF-E3 disk drive form factor which is optimized for flash storage. At half the size of a 2.5" SSD, the E3 form factor can scale with power, PCIe speed and wider PCIe link widths to enable maximum input/output operations per second (IOPS), and it increases airflow while using less power. The EDSFF-E3 support will increase the local capacity by 60% in the 1 rack unit servers and increases the capacity in the 2 rack unit server by 33%. Along with new NVMe drive capabilities, the Dell PowerEdge 16G server will also support the latest releases of GPUs (Graphical Processor Units) from NVIDIA, Intel and AMD for those looking to accelerate their AI environments to new levels.
Dell didn't stop with just enabling key partner solutions with the new PowerEdge 16G server line but has also expanded on their own storage, security, sustainability and accelerator capabilities by introducing the following integrated technologies:
