Challenge
A military unit looking to provide continuous availability to end users and process large data files sought a single resource to design a new data center build. While they initially engaged another partner, the unit eventually approached WWT for expert input on their data center design.
Solution
Using our unique Advanced Technology Center (ATC) environment, we performed a series of demos and workshops that resulted in the unit choosing WWT as the sole advisor for its data center design and build out. The solution design included use of Dell EMC VPLEX to virtualize storage and create continuous availability for users, plus Dell EMCIsilon to support the large throughput of data files. In addition, we performed workshops on Cisco UCS and Isilon to help the unit fully understand the functionality and scale-out abilities of these two products.
Conclusion
WWT served as a single resource for the military unit's complete data center design. We worked closely to ensure the unit's specific field requirements were met and all questions answered. The unit has procured all the hardware for the data center build out and is currently working with OEMs on the install.
