Challenge
This customer needed a state-of-the-art asset management system to track all hospital-owned portable medical equipment for their two newest community hospitals. The objective was to have a single user interface to manage all serialized equipment to track location and use patterns. The customer also wanted a single database that could be used to track devices for service and preventative maintenance.
Solution
WWT provided a highly scalable, real-time location system (RTLS) solution that can be used with bar codes and passive RFID tags that are read with a handheld scanner. In addition, assets can be tracked via active Wi-Fi tracking tags that use wireless access points located throughout the hospitals to track the devices in real time.
Conclusion
The customer will achieve its objective of having a robust, easy-to-use, single database that can track and validate serialized medical equipment via bar codes, RFID and Wi-Fi tags.
