Lab Description

This hands-on lab guides participants through fundamental Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Compute Services using the Google Cloud CLI and the Google Cloud Console. Challenge 1: Log into the Google Cloud Console

• Log in to your Google Cloud Console.
• Familiarize yourself with the Google Cloud Console interface.

Lab Objectives: Exploring Virtual Machines in GCP

Challenge 2: Create a Virtual Machine Instance

• In the Google Cloud CLI, use the gcloud compute instances create command to create a basic virtual machine instance.
• Specify machine type, boot disk, and other minimal configurations.
• Verify the creation in the Google Cloud Console.

Challenge 3: Modify Instance Configuration via CLI

• Use gcloud compute instances set-machine-type to modify the machine type of the instance.
• Verify the changes by running the gcloud compute instances describe again.

Challenge 4: SSH into the Instance

• Access the instance via SSH using gcloud compute ssh from the Google Cloud CLI.
• Perform a simple action within the instance (e.g., create a file).

Challenge 5: Cleanup and Verification

• Use gcloud compute instances delete to delete the instance and associated resources.
• Verify the absence of resources using the gcloud compute instances list and the Google Cloud Console.
