Transform your traditional data centers into AI-ready powerhouses
Facilities Infrastructure Priorities in the Age of AI
What is facilities infrastructure?
Facilities infrastructure comprises six distinct disciplines, each critical for ensuring that facilities and legacy infrastructure operate at optimal efficiency and are prepared to support future demands, including the growing requirements of AI infrastructure. These disciplines are:
Power
This includes the entire power chain from generation to distribution, encompassing generators, overhead busways, PDUs (Power Distribution Units), rack-mounted and floor-mounted UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) battery backups, and DC power plants.
Cooling
This discipline covers the entire thermal chain, from the production of cooling (e.g., chillers) to various cooling methods such as perimeter flooding, row-based cooling and advanced solutions like rear door and chassis or chip-based liquid cooling.
Cabling
This includes fiber and copper cabling, backbone and structured cabling, horizontal cabling, and the pathways for cabling such as overhead trays and troughs. Grounding and bonding are also critical components of this discipline.
Space management
This involves discovery assessments, audits, workshops and the design of cabinet layouts, racks and floor plans. It also includes the integration of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) solutions.
Safety
This discipline primarily involves sensor technology, including cameras for computer vision, crowd counting and general facility protection.
Containers
This involves the use of containerized solutions to support various infrastructure needs, particularly in dynamic and scalable environments.
