Liqid Upgrade from 3.4 to 3.5
In this video, we will guide you through upgrading your Liqid infrastructure from 3.4 to 3.5. The upgrade requires your Liqid stack to have some downtime, as the main portion updates your Liqid director server from Centos to Ubuntu. During this upgrade, all hosts and chassis will need to be powered off in order to complete the upgrade successfully.
Here is a list of what the Liqid upgrade video will cover. One thing to note is that this upgrade requires downtime. Any server connected to the Liqid environment must be powered off to avoid any issues during the upgrade.
Upgrade Task List:
- Verify that Liqid OS is at the correct patch level before upgrading. The Liqid OS level has to be min 3.4.0.615
- Upload migration check script
- Install a USB drive into the Director server (will be used during the OS migration from CentOS to Ubuntu)
- Unplug the management cable from the Director server
- Run migration check script
- Upload upgrade file
- Start migration and tail logs to watch migration status
- Verify migration completes
HLD (High-level design) of the environment that we will be going over in the video today. As you can see this consists of single Director server, 1 Liqid Chassis, PCIE switch, and 4 hosts.
The upgrade of the system was fairly easy to do. It does require you to be onsite and have physical access to the director server. All in all the upgrade takes about 1.5 hours approx.
