Edge: Discovery Workshop
Like any new development project, clearly articulating a set of goals and outcomes is critical to defining a roadmap for successful solution implementation. Establish a clear path for what is needed to bring edge use cases to market and leave with a vision of what successful edge adoption looks like.
What to Expect
In WWT's Edge Discovery Workshop, we collaborate with key organizational stakeholders to refine the vision of the edge compute solution into testable hypotheses, discover the solutions' user base, and determine how to validate business goals and objectives.
- Clearly define the problem and challenge.
- Identify personas consuming the edge application.
- Establish a solution roadmap.
- Define measurable business outcomes.
- Design various aspects of the application at a high level and determine the technology needed to create a prototype.
Goals & Objectives
Typical Discovery Workshop Format
Product problem statement and assumptions
WWT works with key stakeholders to clearly define what problem the identified edge application is looking to solve. Once this is established, WWT will determine a set of base assumptions about the solution to develop a foundation on which the journey map and design can be built.
Persona development
We work with clients to identify the personas consuming the identified edge application to ensure users' needs are being met, enabling the success of the application as it is rolled out.
Journey mapping
Leveraging the information gathered to this point, we work with key stakeholders to establish a solution roadmap. This journey is dynamic, but establishing the initial roadmap gives customers and WWT a path to design features of the application itself.
Identify business outcomes and feature set
With the problem identified, we work with clients to establish measurable business outcomes that can be tied to the application throughout the development process. These business outcomes are key to determining which features need to be included in the edge application and truly drive value to the business.
Hypothesis creation and prioritization
With a clear vision and problem statement, the design process can begin. Taking the feature set necessary to meet the business outcomes, we work with customers to determine a hypothesis on the next steps and prioritize those steps to start achieving the identified business outcomes.
Design Studio
The last part of the workshop is where the application starts to come to life. Leveraging the prioritization established, WWT works with customer stakeholders to design different aspects of the application at a high level and determine the necessary technology to start creating a valid proof of concept for the edge application.
Benefits
- Do you want to create new revenue streams and competitive advantages by offering innovative and differentiated services that leverage artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, or Internet of Things (IoT) technologies?
- Do you want to improve the speed and reliability of your services by processing and analyzing data near the source, rather than in distant data centers or clouds?
- Do you want to enable new services requiring real-time or near-real-time responses, such as video streaming, gaming, or autonomous driving?
If yes, then you may be looking for an Edge Computing strategy. The best way to understand your edge needs is by identifying the use cases. To help with this, WWT has gained insight into industry challenges. Check out use cases identified in the healthcare, manufacturing, and transport industries.
