WWT's Converged Edge Platform
A single, multi-purpose platform to deliver transformational experiences at the edge.
Converged Edge Platform
Commercialize 4G/5G with a single, unified edge cloud platform that makes it easy for the enterprise to consume new apps and services.
The converged edge can play a key role in a service provider's overall 4G/5G strategy by delivering services and connectivity in support of specific industry verticals.
WWT's Converged Edge Platform (CEP) is a single box that organizations can leverage to deploy 5G-enabled services and apps. CEP utilizes VMware's Telco Cloud Infrastructure to deliver consistent deployment and operations of virtualized and cloud-native network functions regardless of where you deploy them.
Benefits and outcomes
Increase revenues by expanding enterprise solutions market share beyond 4G/5G data plans.
Lower opex by adopting a fully integrated stack that has been pre-validated for a wide array of apps.
Increase agility with a unified cloud management and application deployment layer across network edge and enterprise premises.
Reduce costs with a platform fully supported by OEMs. No need to fix it yourself when something goes wrong.
ISVs and use cases
The Converged Edge Platform automates the deployment of innovative applications and services from independent software vendors (ISVs) that take advantage of the low latency and high bandwidth promised by 5G. Our growing library of pre-validated ISVs can help kickstart your journey to creating value for enterprise end customers.
Validate new edge applications in real places with real people.
Given the competitive market landscape, it is critical service providers identify promising use cases on an industry-by-industry basis. WWT's Innovation Studio helps customers engage with next-generation use cases as they were intended to be experienced.
Extending CEP to the cloud
Telcos have long used large cloud data centers that aggregate central and regional core sites to deploy network services. In a 5G world, they'll have to leverage edge network sites along with private and public clouds to deliver next-gen applications. CEP works along the entire spectrum.

How CEP works
Designed from VMware's Telco Cloud Infrastructure (TCI) Reference Architecture and the VMware Telco Cloud Platform (TCP), WWT's Converged Edge Platform provides network/compute infrastructure solutions as close as possible to end-users in the mobile community.
The Converged Edge Platform will be deployed both in the enterprise and the operator's network, which requires two integration and deployment approaches.
The CEP reference architecture can be deployed in a centralized or localized manner, which include management clusters in a regional data center or national data for centralized deployments, with localized deployments utilizing management clusters within the edge site.
A centralized deployment for the Converged Edge Platform utilizes a central data center for hosting the management components of the solution within a management cluster. This allows administrators with the ability to connect and manage multiple edge site locations from a single interface.
A localized deployment is designed for multi-tenancy and bandwidth limitations in mind. When an edge site cannot access a central data center, or multiple operating businesses need to manage their own edge computing resources, the management components are deployed directly at the edge.
The shared infrastructure deployment option, which is more suitable the enterprise edge, runs all of the services on top of the same server in a smaller footprint.
Benefits: Conserve costs and unified operations.
Operational scaling of single, shared management:
The dedicated infrastructure deployment option, which is more suitable for the telco edge, runs on the same architecture but splits out mobile edge computing and core mobility.
Benefits: Independent evolution, dedicated operations, security isolation, and resource isolation and guarantee.
Operational scaling of linear infrastructure:
Edge site locations that require GPU offloading to support running applications, such as AI analytics, AR/VR gaming, etc., can use the Converged Edge Platform.
We've certified multiple NVIDIA Data Center GPUs within the hardware recommendations, including tensor and ampere cores T4, V100, A30, A40 and A100 models. In addition, current ISVs onboarded are part of the NVIDIA Metropolis Program and NVIDIA CloudXR SDK.
